What is a Virtual Server?

A Virtual Server means having your own domain name (http://www.your-name.com) without having to install expensive server hardware and software. With a Virtual Server, you utilize our server's storage space; however, you are still professionally represented via your own personal Internet web address domain name (www.your-name.com) and by your own personal e-mail address domain name (you@your-name.com). How do I transfer files to my website?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP). If you need FTP, telnet, mail, or other Internet software for Windows, visit Winfiles.com. Will I be able to access my site for updates 24 hours per day?

Yes, you have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. You can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.Back to the top.

How long does it take to set up a new server?

New accounts are normally set up in less than 24 hours from the time we receive your order and payment. Once your account is set up, an activation notice will be sent to you via email including your user-ID, password, and FTP hostname. You can then begin uploading files to your new web site immediately. Back to the top.

Do you provide technical support?

Yes. We encourage our customers in need of assistance to send e-mail to webmaster@saudiserv.com with questions or concerns about their web site. We also provide help with HTML syntax and CGI programming problems, but only on a best endeavours basis. Technical support is done 7 days a week. Back to the top.

Can I subdivide my space and resell it?

Yes, we do allow you to create subdirectories within your domain which you can use to offer friends or clients web space as long as its within our policy guidelines. You can also request additional FTP accounts with limited access to a specific directory for a small additional setup charge. Back to the top.

Can I have additional domains pointing to the same main page as my current domain ?

Yes, for a one time $30.00 setup and $15.00 monthly fee for each additional domain we can mirror your main web pages and mail system. This is a great way to expand the marketing of your present business. Back to the top.

Are third level domains available? (myname.domain.com)

Yes, We can give you a third level domain name such as yourname.saudiserv.com or, if you have a existing domain with us, anyname.yourdomain.com for a small additional setup and monthly charges. The advantage to these is that InterNIC registration is not needed, and there would be no InterNIC registration fees.  Back to the top.

Are extra FTP, telnet and POP accounts available?

Who is InterNIC?

The InterNIC is an independent organization responsible for holding the registration and routing of US and international commercial Internet domain names (i.e. .com, .net, and .org). The registration fee is $70 for two years for your virtual domain name. The InterNIC will send you an invoice via email between 3 to 4 weeks after the domain is registered.Back to the top.

What if I go over my traffic allowance?

There is an additional charge of $5 per month per 100MB of excess traffic.Back to the top.

Can I add more space to my site?

Yes, you can purchase extra space at $1.00 per month for each additonal 1 MB. Back to the top.

Can you handle foreign domain names?

Yes. We can house domains from nearly any country. For non-InterNIC domain names you will need to file the registration yourself with the local NIC, though in most cases we can provide assistance with this process. Back to the top.

Can I access my domain without the "www" in front?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: Either http://www.your-name.com or http://your-name.com is acceptable, whichever you prefer. Back to the top.

Do you offer dialup internet access?

No, you will need local Internet access in order to maintain your web site and retrieve email addressed to your site. If you have questions concerning your current Internet access, and whether or not it will comply with our web services, please contact us via e-mail.Back to the top.

Do you handle the domain registration?

For InterNIC domains, we will contact the InterNIC to request either a new domain name registration or a domain name modification (transferring an existing domain to our servers) for a one time charge ($30). more information is available in the Domain Name Transfer home page.

How long is it before my domain is active?

Once the InterNIC announces that your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 24 hours before it is active. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location. Back to the top.
